Elk Hunts with Kohls Outfitting
Our elk hunts are offered in some of the most remote areas in Idaho. Most of our area is located in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness, between the Lochsa River and the Selway River. A part if the area is north of the Lochsa River. It is not in the wilderness, but is still road less. The entire area is assigned to Robin Kohls and Kohls Outfitting/Oswold Pack Camp. This are has primarily been hunted by the Oswolds since the 1940’s. This area has been able to produce many fine trophy animals over the years. There are many 5×5 or larger bulls harvested each year.
Access to the hunting area will be by horseback. It is an entirely road less area as well as a designated wilderness area. Hunting in this spectacular country will be done either by horseback or on foot. The camps are already set up with wall tents, cots, pads, heaters, either propane or wood, and the kitchen set. Being only 2500-7500 feet in elevation, most of it between 3000 and 5000, most people are able to handle that well. However, the terrain is rugged and steep. Your physical condition will be a factor in the enjoyment of your trip.
